10 years ago in UFO fandom...

Hi all,

There is a website called "www.archive.org" which allows you
to (in some cases) look at old versions of websites -- all
you have to do is input the internet address, and see what
they've got. With this, you can find a 10-year old version
of my "UFO Series Home Page", which at the time was at
"ufo.simplenet.com":

http://web.archive.org/web/19970529175630/http://ufo.simplenet.com/

It's kind of interesting (at least for me) to look at
what was (and was not) on the site 10 years ago...

Yikes, I just realized that I actually remember when you got your own
domain for the site!

Of course, that was several hard drives and computers ago.

UFO on Family Room HD!

Hi all,

Jerry has sent me a DVD downconversion of a UFO broadcast on
Family Room HD. Now, not knowing what the original HD broadcast
looked like and how much was lost in the translation to DVD,
it still appears that the broadcasts are "washed out" compared
to the DVD transfers. Also, I'm sure that some folks would
be bothered by the cropping in some scenes. I noticed that
the end credits were squashed a bit, presumably so that all
the text would fit onscreen (and making the earth look less
round!). Also, they are using the "surround sound" mix
on the audio, which I don't like as well as the original
mono (your opinion may vary).

So, I guess what I'm saying is that from a purist point
of view, the DVDs are still probably a better choice.
But for those of you curious about the cropping and
the non-mono sound, here is a clip from MINDBENDER:

http://ufoseries.com/hdtv/mindbender.mp4

That's an MP4 file, which should play with Quicktime
Player or something that plays an MP4 file (e.g., Nero
Showtime)

Thanks again, Jerry!
