being a little off topic the reason the timeline in M*A*S*H* was so screwed
up was it was made as a anti-war statement against Vietnam using the Korean war as the setting. This got the writers confused as to when things happen. This gave lots of bloopers timewise such as Radar doing a impression of John Wayne from the movie McClintock which was made in the 60's years after the Korean war was over and the same for a reference to the movie Godzilla which wasn't made till 1954 a year after everyone in the 4077 went home. Stuff like this is why there should be a clear guideline for when a series is set and it should be stuck to. I don't think there are any major time bloopers in UFO but now 30 years later it might seem that way as we look back with greater knowledge of things past. James K. For example, an episode in series 8 has the characters Potter and Winchester at a New Year's Eve party in 1950. This implies that everything between the episode "Christmas in Korea" in series 1 and this episode in series 8 (made over ten years later) happens over six days! James |

"Paperguy" looks like a real guy and not a puppet to me. I think this
is just a page from a real newspaper used in the shot. The headline on one story reads "Lanark Declared Runners and Riders", I believe, and I also believe Lanark is a horse race track in the UK. Can we get a cap from that to campare? I now have 5 images that are
all suposed to be him. In the latest ones he looks about 60 though. Makes me wonder about that cadet thing. I have the 2 star wars pics and 3 recent snapshots from a fan site. I'd post them but I didn't want to eat up the last of our file space. Incidentally, the two pics from star wars look like two different guys. The young Bespin guard looks most likely to match the fan pics. The lizard suit pix are useless so I ignored them. Okay, I give up - it's not Michael Billington! I just
checked out the photo on the internet which makes it plain & clear it's Alan Harris. Coincidentally, I've been watching 'The Living Daylights' this evening & I think I saw Alan Harris pop up as a technician in Q's lab - I'd have to check it in one of my 007 books to confirm though. When I watched 'The Long Sleep' on video, it was such a fast edit that Alan Harris did look very much like Michael. I accept defeat, thanks for posting the photo on the net & sorting it out for us! Well, I'm pretty sure it is - looks very much like the same guy, sixteen years older anyway. Here he is in The Living Daylights, testing a 'ghetto blaster' for Q branch: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jgibbon/asmith.jpg |

Hi James
I was interested to read that 'The Living Daylights' is your favourite Bond film - I think it's okay but I think the villains are a bit silly not really evil like most Bond villains. I know this is a UFO discussion group & not a James Bond one but there is a tenuous link between 007 & our favourite series - Timothy Dalton was the original choice to play the part that Michael Billington eventually played in 'KGB:The Secret War'. Changing the subject, did anyone else attend the Eclectic 21 Convention At Leicester's Holiday Inn in May 2001 as I did & if so did they enjoy Mike & Ed Bishop's contribution to the weekend? Hi Neil,
<<did anyone else attend the Eclectic 21 Convention At Leicester's Holiday Inn in May 2001 as I did & if so did they enjoy Mike & Ed Bishop's contribution to the weekend?>> Yes, they were very good - in fact I have put up a page about it at http://www.ufotvpages.com/page4.html Hopefully we will see Messrs. Bishop and Billington together at a UK venue again sometime - if so, I'll definitely be there ! Regards, Andy |

Oh, well, the connection is more solid than that - Ed Bishop has appeared in two Bond films and Mike Billington has appeared in one. PLUS, Mike was considered to play Bond as well! Can't see Dalton in "KGB: The Secret War" .... <shaking head> -- Y -- [hidden email] =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Tarrant: "Did you say something?" Actual Yuchtar
while you were away we had a discuss about the UFO/007 link. Beside Ed and Mike in UFO, there was also Vladek, and Shane Rimmer in two also. And besides Mike being up for the James Bond so were David Warbeck and another regular cast member who I can't remembe just now and two guest stars Michael Jayston and Partick Allen. And Anouska Hempel was a Bond girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. So Bond and UFO are linked! James K. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
I seem to remember David Healey (Franklin in Ordeal) being in a Bond
too....but someone here will correct me if I am wrong...don't have time to check right now. Sheila UFOite > Majesty's Secret Service. So Bond and UFO are linked! > > James K. |

Healy was in two Bond films both uncredited play the same sort or role as a
launch control officer in both You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever. James 008 K. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
