A&E UFO DVD packaging

takorachan
Hello. Has anyone been able to definately determine what kind of
packaging the A&E DVDs will have? Keepcases or Digipacks?

My guess is that they will have a case like the CAPTAIN SCARLET one. I don't
know if there is a specific name for the style, but it's like a keepcase
except that it's designed to hold four discs.

BBC video also did a similar case for ALL CREATURES GREAT & SMALL series one
recently.

It's odd, because if they only wanted to hold 4 discs, then they
would only need one plastic insert in the middle. However, Captain
Scarlet (and presumably UFO) has 2 plastic inserts, so in theory this
packaging could hold 6 discs.

The Captain Scarlet case is also made of clear plastic, and has a
single sheet cover printed on both sides. So when you have it open,
you can read the printing on the back of the sheet through the
plastic (although it's easier to read if you just pull it out). In
the UK, the Thunderbirds movies also have this setup.

The package for Captain Scarlet seems very durable. Not too fancy though,
but it looks like it could take a couple of drops (Not that I'm willing to
find out) without any damage. It also looks easy to replace, in case it
cracks, unlike the digipaks which I think I'm eventually going to wrap in
plastic with a backing board to keep them nice.

The Captain Scarlet box reminds me of those tape cases you would get from
the bootleg video dealers at conventions. A tough clamshell like thingy.
