Hi all,
Looks like in the USA, A&E has dropped all Gerry Anderson titles due to poor sales: http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/showthread.php?p=4100729 Which means it looks like A&E will NOT be releasing UFO on Blu-ray, or any other Gerry Anderson series... :-( Presumably SOMEONE on the planet is interested in releasing UFO on Blu-ray? A region-free Blu-ray would be playable on any Blu-ray player worldwide (except for any extra features that might be NTSC/PAL) Marc |
Bad news indeed. How utterly disappointing.

Although A&E did have the UFO DVDs on the market for a very long time. And the quality was excellent. And they paid for the production of two extra commentary tracks not available on the UK releases. And A&E did manufacture enough of these that they should be easy to find (on eBay, at least) and cheap. It's just that I'd like to see a Blu-ray release at some point -- either the cropped versions that were broadcast in the USA, or even better, remastered from scratch with the proper aspect ratio. In an ill advised move, they released Space: 1999 on blu-ray first :( To: [hidden email] From: [hidden email] Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2012 12:35:28 -0700 Subject: Re: [SHADO] A&E drops all Gerry Anderson series > Bad news indeed. Fireball was my second lunchbox. Right now I'm suspecting you might be younger than me (56).

Seems that rumor I posted last week is not entirely true
(and maybe not at all true). The website TheDigitalBits.com checked up on this and found that A&E is still working on their Space:1999 Year Two Bluray disc. As for the other series (like UFO), I don't know... A Good thing that you checked out with Bill, thanks a lot! There must be UFO on Blu-ray one day, but the question is what quality (DVD's were almost perfect)...
