A SHado fan is very ill - can we cheer her up?

Anthony Caira
Hi Folks

My name is Antonio Caira. A few weeks ago I rejoined the group following
a year away fighting an illness of my own. I had hoped to take part - but
things just got crazy.

My partner - Alison White - was taken into hospital for what was to be a
routine operation on an 'Ovarian Cyst'.

The night before the operation the doctor took me on one side and said:
"you do know what you're facing don't you?"

I said: "yes" thinking he meant the cyst.

It was then he took me to the side and told me the CT scans had shown it
to be a large cancer.

The next day she had had one ovary removed - along with her Colon and a
lot of her bowel.
And still they have had to leave some of the tumour in.

She's back at home now - and for the next 3 weeks will be gaining
strength ready for chemo /radio therapy. It all depends on what the tests
show the origin of the tumour was.

I spoke to Suzanne off group about this a week or two ago - and after
some sisterly advice from her - and a bit of soul searching have decided
to send this mail to the group:

Alison is not a member of the group - but *loves* UFO. So many nights she
has stayed up with me watching the episodes over and over again. I even
tried to buy srakers car once and she supported it.

She does an amazing rendition of the theme music which is simply
undescribable...:)

Suzanne said she would be willing to co-ordinate a card for Alison if
anyone wanted to contribute...and i am very, very grateful to Suzanne for
that.

It would really make such a difference to Alison if just a few of you
fans out there could send some well wishes. Pictures of Mike would be a
definite bonus;))

OK Folks - sorry to have dropped a heavy rap on us all - but Al *can* get
better - so maybe we can help - and any prayers to that big person above
would be very appreciated.

Thanks Folks
All best wishes
Tony

Tony, so very sorry to hear this news - but I'm sure we are all gunning
for Alison to get better very, very soon. To quote the words of Baldrick
and re the Mike pic thing - "....I have a cunning plan" but I'll speak
to Suzanne about it first!

In the meantime - my warmest wishes to both of you at this time,

God bless,
Di

Ugh, heavy. Count me in. Please convey my heartfelt angst and greetings in a
card or whatever.

Umm, no photos of Mike but I'll write a little story dedicated to Alison in
the next few days that may amuse her a little.

May the loving Creator above comfort and encourage you both.

Dear Antonio - I just read your posting this am about your partner Alison.
She has been through her own "Ordeal", that's for certain! Please tell
Alison that my thoughts are with her. I had a breast cancer scare last fall,
and while that is nothing to what she has been through, I do sympathize with
her situation. It has to be a very scary, and painful, experience. I hope you
have lots of UFO eps to amuse her with. Please check out Mike B.'s web site
on Marc's "What's New" column - Mike is great about answering e-mails and
if you were to explain to him Alison's condition, I'm sure he'd send back a
note of support. Thinking of you - Pam

No apologies necessary!!! I lost my best friend of 8 years to
metastatic cervical cancer. Even if one is not terminal, the
uncertainty and watching one's loved one suffer can be devastating.

You've got my prayers and petitions for sure.

Hello Tony,

I'm glad to see your message. I hope Alison continues to improve.

And for the rest of the gang:

Yes, I'm very happy to put something together for Alison. Please send
any thoughtful, inspiring, cheerful messages to me at:

[hidden email]

You all have until the 30th of May. I have to put a cut-off date
because of Ed Bishop's birthday looming soon, too.

Bye for now,
