ANOTHER CG Interceptor

ahast42696-2
Yeah,

I know it's been done before, but it's such a nice shape!
Lots of work to do. I'm mainly posting this so I can keep myself
motivated to finish it!

I put a render in the photos area:

Wow...very nice.

Seeing this reminds me that I sure do miss my Dinky Interceptor from the 70's.

I know must have been covered in the past but.....

Can anyone tell me why the great Dinky replica was painted green instead of white as in the show?

Not to mention the orange landing gear.

Best to all

John

I don't think anyone knows for sure, but it has been speculated
that white was too boring...

Marc,

Makes as much sense as anything else.

I was living in Ireland at that time, 71 - 72 and bought my Dinky model in Cork City.
We did not have UFO on TV so my only visual reference points were Countdown magazine, later to become TV Action, the paperback book covers or the occasional annuals.

I assumed back then that the green color might have been from a different interceptor wing or group.
Amazing how ignorance can be bliss.

Off topic altogether: Looking back to those pre Internet / pre 1,000 + available television channel days, do you recall the great anticipation and fascination you felt going to and then being at the news stand / news agent and looking to see if your favorite magazines had come in back then?

Best
John

Which CGI progam was used to make the render?

Thanks for all the complimentary responses to the
Interceptor-in-progress. Now I'll HAVE to keep on going!

Anthony - that was just the Maya software renderer. Hopefully I'll get
around to setting up the shaders for it in Mental Ray.
