Just watched Exposed again last night. Maybe this has been discussed before- if so, apologies! At the end, in Straker's office, Alec Freeman is standing by the door. Is he turning a wedding ring on his finger? If not, what ishe fiddling with!? It's driving me mad! Suggestions please!

Hello,
I always thought he was taking the plastic wrapper off one of those cigars Straker was always smoking --- In [hidden email], "lightcudder" <louise.oatridge@...> wrote: > > Just watched Exposed again last night. Many Europeans wear their wedding rings on their right hand, a ring on the left hand doesn't necessarily mean a wedding ring.

Hi,
I have a theory which may at first sound daft, but well stay with me on this one... Firstly, Alec Freeman is certainly not wearing a wedding ring, see here: http://www.griffwason.com/UFO_Exposed-AlecFreeman.jpg However, I have been working on an illustration job for General Electric, with one of their latest MRI scanners. Obviously, I was not allowed to have any metal on my person while around the test scanner coil: coins, belt, watch and wedding ring! Some of the technical explanations were a little boring to be honest, and although I'm not a doodler, I found myself fingering the 'ridge' left by my vacant wedding ring. If you look carefully at the DVD Exposed, at about 42:50 I believe this is exactly what George Sewell is doing... So there you go... Hi,
Certainly in 'Identified', Alec Freeman's character was certainly written and portrayed as a bit of a 'womanizer' (quote from Gerry Anderson). By excluding a wedding ring or implying that Alec Freeman wasn't married would have made this character trait a little more - how can I say - plausible/palatable... and certainly (for the 1960's/70's) more moral that if he was a 'womanizer' AND married. That makes his character a very different thing. Maybe I am showing my age here, but I am having trouble here. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I suppose a modern attitude would be, 'what's the big deal? I'd very very interested to hear what others think about this. Commander Straker in 'The Responsibility Seat' looks positively uncomfortable, and certainly un-practiced. Paul Foster is portrayed as a typical late-twenties type. Whereas, Alec Freeman, although oldest of the three is portrayed as thewomanizer... Of course, this didn't happen by accident, and was purposely written into the scripts, although Freeman's character seees to have been diluted in thisregard in later episodes.
