Alec Freeman -married?

Lightcudder-2
Many thanks for the info - especially the photo of Alec. I do wonder though, if he was playing with the ridge left by his wedding ring does that implythat he was once married? Interesting!
On another note - did Gerry Anderson have something against his lead men being married? How many men in his programmes were widowed or divorced. i think that Straker would probably have been a widower if UFO had not been aimed at an older audience.

Also- would Robert Downey be any good in the film?

Re: Alec Freeman -married?

Hi,

I suppose it is possible that Alec Freeman 'was' married... in Confetti Check A-OK at the wedding reception, he 'seems' to be on his own, and that was10 years before UFO present day...

Troubled marriages do seem to be a theme in GA productions, though.

Doppleganger (AKA, Journey to the far side of the Sun) and others.

In Gerry Anderson's case, it's possible - and I don't really care to guess much here - that it might have been a case of wishful thinking. I 'understand' that Gerry and Sylvia's marriage was certainly under strain during UFO,and certainly Space 1999 when they did get divorced. There are many stories, and I am not going to repeat any of them here, as I do not know the truth, and anyway, it's none of my business.

Strangely, although understandedly, the USAF insisted that top flight personnel were married. ALL SR-71 "Blackbird" pilots had to be married. It was also the case (except for a few individual cases) that the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo were married. There are some credible stories that some astronauts' had marriages of conveniences just to get on the program.

Regards, Griff
