Alien Motivation

During the Battle of Britain,the Germans kept trying to knock out Radar Stations and Fighter airfields.
They knew this was the key to a successful invasion.
The radar stations were rebuilt and the fighter airfields were repaired,but Britain was close to collapse,when the germans
shifted their strategic emphasis to the USSR.

All the aliens had to do was to destroy SID and they only appeared to do this once.This would effectively have blinded
SHADO and opened up Moonbase and SHADO HQ to an effective Alien attack.
Are we to conclude then that the Aliens were an advanced
race from another Planet.Highly unlikely.
My explanation then is that they were not travellers from a distant star,but a mental construct taken on physical form,
their actions resonating to our long held wishes,thoughts and fears.

The reason the Aliens can't shoot straight is those darn covers over their
eyes!
I don't know why we haven't thought of this as the reason for their poor
marksmanship before.

They *did* attack and damage SID in THE MAN WHO CAME BACK, but they
don't benefit from this by sending a large fleet of UFOs afterwards
e.g.

And there is also that rest stop issue! When they say you should have
thought of that before you left home they mean it!!

Actually, I do try to incorporate some humour in my fanfic at times (UFO can
be such a serious show!) but the issue of the eye covers completely escaped
me, James. I mean, I really forgot all about it. And I shouldn't have,
becauase that's the very first image you see when the opening music and
scenes start, right? Pam

Yes Pam it is. I was talking with a friend who is also a fan of the series
and we were talking about how you forget certain things that are key to
different series over the years.
