Andersonic

Griff
Hi All,

I've just had a chance - at last - to get some peace, sit down and quietly read the latest episode of Andersonic (#12) - I actually received it June 20th, but this is the first chance I've really had...

I must say to folks out there who haven't had the chance or decided not to get a copy, that you're really missing out!

There are at least (in this episode/issue) three sections (maybe other references as well) directly related to UFO, and it's great to read stories 'behind' UFO that I have never heard before, and from the people that were actually there during the production. Of course Andersonic covers ALL subjects related to ALL Gerry Andersons' productions.

I know that this might sound like an ad (and I suppose it is), and I have absolutely nothing to do with the production of the magazine. Anyway, as everyone here is interested in UFO and ALL its related subjects, I just HAD to mention this great little publication (44 pages/A5 format) - I know I would if I was 'out there'

Go on... it's only £2.25 in the UK (PayPal)

http://andersonic.co.uk/index.htm

Okay, ad over (sorry Marc)... but you're really missing out if you don't try even once!

Regards, G

Shado UFO Pistol Prop Replica - Now Available

harada357

Hello all,

If anyone is interested - The UFO SHADO replica pistol is now available.  The security version and the Acoustic Gun version can be built from the same kit.

UFO is a very limited market - the molds will only last through kit run.  The kit was kept very simple so that anyone who wanted the UFO pistol could simply paint the kit and have a replica.  You dod not have to be an advanced modeler for this kit.

PHOTOS are available on the Ebay site.  Here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180687804748&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Thank you for looking.

Gordon

I'm with you Yuchtar, when I pay that much for a gun I sort of like it actually
go bang or rather sphut in this case.  Nice work however.

Hey Harada.

Nice work.

What pistol was the prop based on?

Re: Shado UFO Pistol Prop Replica - Now Available

harada357

Total Scratch build from screen caps.  The problem is that to make the gun, by the mold RTV, and resin, the cost is enormous for a short production of less than ten kits.  UFO has a relatively small following.  I dropped the price to sell the extras, bu there will be about ten kits out there - plus mine.  I intended to do a rebuild for a second version - but now that is unlikely that that will be sold as a kit.

I am building the rifles - but if this is too pricey for pistol - the cost of a rifle in a small kit run would be cost prohibitive.  They will be prototype scratchbuilds only.

I paid two hundred dollars for a UFO sticker collection.  I bought endless model kits - Skydiver - and the like for hundreds of dollars.  When I tried to produce the kit - I thought that there would be enough interest to at least cover the materials - much less the time.  I have wanted a good Shado pistol since I was a KID.  So the dream of making the gun became possible.

If I could sell a hundred - the price could be $ 50.00 - If you sell ten - the cost is more expensive - and the molds only last so long.  Shelf life is relatively short.

Once these are gone, they are gone.  : (

My only regret is a lack of source material to get all of the details from the real prop - screen caps distort and obscure detail.

All of us Old guys are FANS of UFO - but the kids these days don't apprecaite the quality and depth of the series for the time.

I hope someone does pick up and try a UFO pistol build - maybe I will buy one from them.

What will happen - once they are gone - a get a flood of emails wanting the gun.  Once these molds are retired - thats it.

I am building a couple of the first run kits just to show how cool the look finished.  But those are staying in my collection.

I dropped the prices as low as they are going.  I was just a fan trying to share my love of UFO with others.  It is not like BANDAI helped.  I have a small shop in my Garage.

Commander Staker's Forces will have to hope they do not need handguns - they are not in the budget.

Gordon

Oh, I'm sure it's a good price - it's just a shame the economy is in the
toilet right now. Like I said, my guy is a model maker too, so we know
how it is. (He produced the original Utah Raptor kit way back when if
anyone is familiar with that). Looks like you did a great job. If I show
this to David, he'll probably want one, but he needs a new AC more
deperately, so maybe I should not show it to him.

Good luck, man! There must be a few UFO fans out there who still have
some money left.

Re: Shado UFO Pistol Prop Replica - Now Available

harada357

Thanks for the reply,

I knew this was a long shot - but I did it for LOVE not money.

I had to buy all the equipment, tools, chemcials, and plastics from scratch.  Figure out how to build, cast, and pour resin.  It was expensive.

My wife could tell you to the dollar how much I spent.  OUCH !

The next project will be easier because i don't have the learning curve.  What will happen is that i will only do a couple of kits for friends on the RPF and die hard friends from the SHADO group.  I have beena UFO fan since the dya the first episode aired.

Thanks Yuchtar !!  I have loved the SHADO group and followed Marc's web site forever !!!  UFO lives.

how much is 50 pounds in american dollars?
can you make cheap vaccuforms of it?
or for halloween, stryofoam or paper mache' casts for less price but more profit?
i didnt really get a real clear price in american dollars of what the pistol goes for, but i might get one, depending on what i can afford,
if we all buy a lottery ticket type donation for a few bucks, can you make enough on that to keep a round robin kind of lottery game going for a full purchase price until they are gone. i would play 3-4 bucks a chance every week for a jackpot of that pistol.
