Another Tyne-Tees UFO introduction

James Gibbon

If by some chance you found that last one interesting, here's
Annie St John introducing UFO the same year. I don't know the
date, but it would have been around the same time.

Sadly, she killed herself about three years after this was
broadcast.

I went through them a couple of years ago, transferring them
indiscriminately to DVDs. I'm now decommmissioning the DVDs
by transferring their contents to a hard drive, where they'll
take up less space! And hopefully be a bit easier to organise.

I had about 250 VHS tapes of stuff recorded from TV broadcasts.
It's ironic that the most interesting content turned out to be
the things I never particularly wanted to record, that got
picked up because I left the tape running - news programmes,
adverts, continuity announcements. I feel a bit like an
archeologist.

That ITN news report was only recorded because it took the
place in the schedules of UFO, which was then shown later than
advertised. I think I set the timer for that one.

Annie reads out a couple of birthday messages during that clip.
I managed to google a Rory Lofthouse from Ripon last night, and
left a message on his blog. He was kind enough to reply today:

"Yeah its definitely me, my first dog was called Ziggy haha
thanks for putting some effort in and emailing me, the date
will have been 21st feb, I would have been 2"

So there you go. That clip was captured for posterity on my
parents' VHS recorder on Saturday 21st February, 1987 - two
weeks before the other clip. Not sure what the episode would
have been - either Identified or Exposed, at a guess. Most
likely the former.
