Hi all,
Here's another upcoming UFO-related model, the "Dove" from the movie "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun": http://www.monstersinmotion.com/ships/dove.html This was also the SID repair craft seen in the UFO episode THE MAN WHO CAME BACK. Marc |

They look quite different to me! The SID craft was much more angular in appearence, while the Dove was well rounded and contoured. Maybe if the model had been extensively modified or reworked.... I'll have to review the tape. Give me an excuse to re-watch JTTFSS for about the 12th time! Dave H. |

We've had 3 people point out to me that they were different, so I guess they are! I just always assumed that they were the same craft, and that UFO even reused footage from the movie. But I guess not! Marc |

Some of the exterior shots of that was cherry picked for "The Man Who Came Back". My one complaint of the sequence in the movie is; the small model size is so evident because of the filming speed. The model details and craftsmanship was awesome, but they needed a serious overcranking on the cameras to slow up the action and give it that feeling of grandios scale, which is painfully missing, because the model pieces jiggling, smoke blowing around the booster, and the rockets blast betray the small scale of the models. My favorite piece of hardware from that movie was that VTOL airliner with the detachable passenger container that Col. Ross arrives on. Give it some nose gear to stand on with the nose up, and it would be an awesome idea. Dave H. |

I went to the trouble of making frame captures from JFSS and the UFO ep MWCB and will send them to your files section immediatly :-) Of course, it could be that Meddings & Co reworked the Doppelgänger modul for the use in UFO. Sadly there is no section about JFSS in Meddings "21st Century Visions" book (and no word about the repair craft, either). Christian |
