Can anyone give me a few cool things that insiders know about the series? I am starting to view the DVDs and would like some inside info....
PS I am a novice on UFO, just liked some reruns as a kid so I bought the DVDs. Kara |

Hmmm, I wonder what would be an example of "cool things"... You might have a look at my UFO frequently asked questions page: http://ufoseries.com/faq.html It hasn't been updated for years, but I would assume any information about the series itself is probably still up-to-date. :-) Marc |
Hmm... I still get a buzz watching
ambulances pull up outside Holby City hospital in Casualty.

THANKS!
Can you fill me in on the alcoholism issue? Rumor is that Straker was supposed to be an alcoholic in the show- justification for the stocked bar , constant drinking in the office, etc. This ios one thing i noticed. Mr Martin- were you affiliated with the show itself? Your knowledge is incredible! Kara |

So maybe a recovering alcoholic, but I'm not sure how strong of a case you can make for that based on what we see in the series. > Mr Martin- were you affiliated with the show itself? BTW I read the alcoholism rumor on the Wikipedia page for Straker.I seem to recall the article wondered if Mr Bishop the actor may have had an issue with the bottle and that they writers may have keyed off of that or something. The author's determination was inconclusive.
But whoever wrote that article surely has less info than those on this board. so that is why I brought it up. Thanks again! Kara |

The author's determination was inconclusive. It's seems that the most relevant line in the series about this is when Freeman says "You never touch the stuff, do you?", which seems innocent enough. Which would mean that Straker just doesn't touch the stuff so as to not compromise his judgement as commander, or he's hiding something from Alec when he says he has "Self Control". Marc |
