COMPUTER AFFAIR

Hi all,

Our 2 weeks for discussing IDENTIFIED is about to end, so it's time
to start thinking about/watching/discussing our next UFO episode,
COMPUTER AFFAIR! Again, you've got 2 weeks to do this.

And hey Carly -- this new round of episode discussions was *your*
suggestion, and yet I didn't see any message from you on
IDENTIFIED... ;-)

Pam McCaughey
Hey, isn't the Computer Affair the eps in which Gay Ellis and Mark Bradley
are accused of being "in love"? I seem to recall a comment by Ellis to the
effect of "if the computer thinks we're in love, then it's out of its tiny
electronic mind." Also, she is being put through some sort of psych word
association test (I think by Jackson - who else) - where she is given the
word "white" and the expected counter to it is "black" - however I think she
says "bird". When asked why she gave that word, she corrects it to
"blackbird". I remember the eps made a big impression on me when I was 12
(in 1970) because it posited the idea of an interracial romance, which
except for that eps of Trek (in which Kirk and Uhura kiss) - was virtually
unheard of at the time. Both Trek and UFO contributed in their own ways to
racial tolerance and acceptance.
