Captain Scarlet

Mark Davies-3
I agree with all the general comments regarding Captain Scarlet during kids Ministry of Mayhem.
Just a couple of things. The scripting at the start of the episode was a little flawed.Black's near jerk response lacked
credibility and the Mysteron's reaction was similarly rushed and unconvincing. They should have spent a lot more time on establishing the
conflict between the Earth and Mars.Almost in no time at all Earth was at War with the Mysterons on the basis of nothing more than a mis-understanding.

Similarly with Captain Scarlet's indestructibility. All of this was concluded in the first 12 or 13 minutes.Given that Gerry Anderson devoted
the opening 2 episodes to establish this conflict etc...it was in my opinion poorly realised. And why did the MOM production team fail to show the end credits.

On a good note...the CGI was first class...and the series has a distinctly Gerry Anderson feel to it.I can also understand why he feels it will be very successful.
Hopefully the scripting will be better in future episodes.Which in turn will lead to a re-birth of interest for all of Anderson's work's including of course his greatest UFO!

Re: Captain Scarlet

J Ramage-2

I saw the first ep while I was at work on Saturday, when I was in the gallery. We have a monitor showing what's currently airing on our channel, and we had a fault in graphics that delayed our filming so we got to just sit in the gallery and watch TV. I liked the look of it, I must say. It struck me as a lot more streamlined and slicker than the test film I saw at SBFA a couple of years ago. I couldn't really think of it as 'Captain Scarlet' though - I was watching it and judging it just as a new series, as I found it hard to compare to the original. But it was off-putting not having Ed Bishop and Francis Matthews doing the voices. It did look better than I expected, not that I know what I expected exactly, but I would agree, being stuck in MoM is a pain in the neck, as I can't really stand that show.

Hopefully graphics' computer will go down again next week so I can watch the next ep.
