Carlton DVDs

Christian J.
Hi!

Boy, are we lucky guys!
When I read at FAB news: "Unfortunately, this [THE PROTECTORS box
set] will be the last complete Gerry Anderson series release from
Carlton Visual Entertainment for the foreseeable future as the
company have announced that they are shelving any further series
releases from the Gerry Anderson catalogue. A Region 2 DVD box set of
Fireball XL5 had originally been planned for release in July, but
this has now been indefinitely postponed.", I breathe a sigh of
relief that our beloved series came out at the right time. It also
could have read: "A Region 2 DVD box set of *UFO* had originally been
planned for release, but this has now been indefinitely postponed."!
Horrible imagination, isn't it!

Well, I'm glad that A&E has released/will release the box sets of
FIREBALL XL5 and SUPERCAR: "In the United States, A&E Video recently
released a five disc Region 1 (NTSC) box set of all 39 digitally
remastered episodes of Fireball XL5 featuring audio commentaries by
voice artist David Graham (on The Doomed Planet) and director Alan
Pattillo (on Space City Special) as well as a specially-commissioned
featurette on TV Century 21 comic strip artist Mike Noble. A similar
five-disc set featuring all 39 digitally-remastered episodes of
Supercar will be released by A&E Video on May 27th and will include
an audio commentary by voice artist Sylvia Anderson on Rescue and a
specially-commissioned featurette on visual effects supervisor Derek
Meddings."

Let's face it:
UFO DVDs out in GB, US, France and Italy;
UFO original soundtrack (2 CDs!) from Fanderson in June;
UFO scriptbook #1 from Fanderson;
The complete Book of UFO from Chris Bentley in the near future;
and the Konami figures... who can ask for more?

We can't complain about our luck, can we? :-)

Christian (feeling grateful)
