For Northeast US group members: Ames Department Stores are offering
the "Classic" brand model DVD-102 on sale this week (through Saturday
3/9) for $57.77 after a $40 rebate. This machine has a know "region
hack" allowing bypass of the region code check (see
http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/full/classic102.asp)
so you can play any of the Carlton Region 2 DVD's. I bought one
today, and it works fine -- certainly not the highest quality player
on the market, but the cheapest region-free player I've seen so far.
