Hi, Mark.
I have one of the first APEX machines with the loophole menu. I
bought it exclusevly to play UK Gerry Anderson DVDs, and it has
worked very well.
The only artifact I've noticed from conversion to NTSC is there is a
mild squeezing of the picture from the top to bottom. Otherwise the
picture looks great and it sounds great as well.
Of course the APEX is no longer available with the loophole, but
there are plenty of new models to fill the gap. Do a search on eBay
(or go to www.google.com) for "code free dvd" and you'll turn up
quite a few. I've bought Thunderbirds, Stingray and now Captain
Scarlet.

Elaine, there are a number of manufacturers that make "worldwide"
VCRs (like Samsung). You can do a search on eBay for worldwide vcr
and it will kick up quite a few. I think most folks overseas buy
these so they can play the US tapes.
