Countdown magazine

As a relative newcomer to the forum, I have been trawling through the
archives looking at earlier responses on topics of interest to me.
Shaqui's posting from two years ago exactly mirrors my own experience
in the early 1970s. I started buying Countdown comic from about
edition 7 as I recall, and remember reading the UFO strips with great
interest.

However it was the programme stills frequently printed in Countdown
that really attracted my interest. It was only then that I realised
there was this Gerry Anderson programme UFO which used live actors
instead of puppets, and covered a subject close to my heart at the
time. I remember pulling my hair out when looking through the Saturday
TV listings to see that UFO was listed as being on in virtually every
ITV region at 5.15pm except London! It was only when we went away on
holiday (probably Easter 1971 to the 'Southern' region) that I had my
first chance to catch an episode, but even then only managed to catch
the last minute or so of an episode. (I've still not worked out which
one it was, I recall it was Straker and Freeman 'patting each other on
the back' in Straker's office)

Somewhere up in my loft I think I've got those episodes of Countdown,
plus a 1971 or 1972 Countdown annual
