UFO (1969-1970)
Puppet-meister Gerry Andersons first move into live action was weirdly set
in the near future of the 1980s! Earth was threatened by an alien race that
was harvesting human body parts and our first line of defence was SHADO.
They used moon-based interceptors and women in shiny short skirts and purple
wigs (including Gabrielle Drake) to save us! Sadly it only lasted for 26
episodes, as its adult tone and character-driven focus confused the network.
