Nice to see that Carlton do listen
to customer feedback and dropped their plans to release their latest Gerry Anderson series,THE PROTECTORS, in a dreaded digipack like the UFO one. Three Amaray keepcases in a box holder-bliss! Still unforgivible that ufo of all the Gerry Anderson series released should be the only one to suffer the indignity of the cursed digipack packaging. |

I am glad Carlton is releasing UFO (and also all the other shows), but their packaging (and DVD UI) is pretty shoddy. |

Just think for a moment of all of the TV series which were more popular than "UFO"... and that most of these series are not even available on DVD! We probably should be happy to see them out on DVD at all, and yet we've not only got them on DVD, but we've got a top-notch remastering job, we've got some deleted scenes, commentary tracks, and photo galleries! It's really quite unbelievable! Marc |

I think Carlton have done a decent job and we should be grateful this wasn't a BBC production (like Dr Who ) and the tapes were recorded over. UFO could have been obliterated all together if it had been part of the BBC's back catalogue. Instead what we have got is a top quality product that when I was in Woolworth last week I noted was number 18 in the DVD charts! Nice going Carlton! Sheila UFOITE |

Thankfully, Sheila, there was no
chance of that happening as UFO was shot on 35mm film, unlike DOCTOR WHO which was shot on videotape(all except for one story SPEARHEAD FROM SPACE which was shot on 16mm film). Back to the accursed digipacks:I have already stated my personal distaste, I will simply reiterate that there was so much negative feedback to Carlton over the UFO digipcks, that they dropped plans to release the next G.Anderson series THE PROTECTORS in a digipack, and reverted to a keepcase set. For THIS Carlton deserve much credit. |

Carlton also should get some credit for not forcing people to purchase UFO in Digipaks -- let's not forget that they are selling them in individual volumes (although who'd want to wait until August to get them all!) Ah well not being a huge Dr Who fan I would not know the details but I do know the BBC reused lots of tapes of various programmes. > Back to the accursed digipacks:I > have already stated my personal > distaste, Are these the packs that fold out and the postcards keep drooping out of? Yes, I agree that is a pain but the artwork is lovely. I let out an audible "ohhh" in the shop when I first looked at one! <g> Re carlton yeah credit where credit is due:-) Sheila Still UFO Crazy crazy crazy crrraaazzzzy! |

Keepcases are drab. Keepcases are dull. The sets are original, stand out and are made for being cherished things and to be taken care of. There. As for the postcards, for god's sake, take 'em out and put 'em somewhere else! <rolling eyes> I kept the plastic wrap and insert 'em folder things upside down so everything stays inside. <arms folded> I'm keeping 'em and nobody gets 'em unless it's over my dead body! ;-) I may want the US ones, too... 8-) Marc, please remember to post your comments and let us know about the Chipmunk syndrome. For what it's worth -- the "Dialog" clips on my website right now are taken from the Carlton DVD's, but slowed down by 4%, so they *should* be equivalent to the A&E discs right now. Marc |
For those of you than can get it on at.binaries.multimedia is UFO Invasion
The Movie. It takes a while to download, even with broadband but worth it I think. Not seen this for a long time and not had any luck in buying it. Paul |

I use Newsbin to download it and winrar to reassemble it works just fine.
Did you have the correct Codec for you system to watch it. |
Just has a extra it is yEnc coded and only NewsBin 4.0b22 will download

For those of you interested in a UK source for the A&E DVD's
www.play.com are advertsiing set one at the moment for the very competitive price of £36.99 [including post] This I believe is cheaper than the Carlton DVD's. Play are a well known importer of region 1 DVD's into the UK. I have ordered from them before and found them to fast and effecient. Here is the link to the A&E UFO set 1 http://www.play.com/play247.asp?page=search&adudisc=y Not wanting to sound anorakish, digipak is a trade name therefore it is spelt only using the 'k' the 'c' being deleted It is dervived from the inward opening Gatefold LP sleeves, which were known as unipak sleeves.
