Dead group

Looks like the traffic here has pretty much dropped to zero.  Wonder if it's time to "pull the plug" on this group, since it does cost money & resources to keep it going.

Seems like all fandom has moved to Facebook.

Ah no. It does seem that way though. But I don't do Facebook.
I guess it may be time to hang up the nehru jacket!

Long time anyways Marc. How are you doing?

Grant.

Yeah, I don't know what, if any, viable alternative there is to Facebook these days.  Although I think having this group online may serve some sort of historical interest (even if it is dead)

But I'm still here... been spending time on other things, obviously.  Still hope to spend some time on UFO whenever I retire (which I suppose should have already happened by now, but hasn't)

Yes, it sure has gotten quiet - but it would be a shame to lose the history here. What costs are involved in keeping the site up?

Well really, for me, it's just the yearly renewal of the domain name.  Otherwise whoever is hosting the content is doing it for free.  So cheap, and even cheaper if I switched to a cheaper registrar.  :-)

Okay, after some quick research, I'll just change from a $25/year registrar to a $10/year registrar.  And keep this online as long as this service remains alive (the service, Nabble, is kind of on life support as well, I think).

Not sure what the activity levels are on Facebook these days for UFO... I still see messages, but it doesn't seem like the heyday it once was.

The other week my housemate told me she'd met someone at her work who had the ufo theme as their ringtone.
The next day I was in out local Tesco Extra and a guy walked past and suddenly the UFO theme blasted out and he answered his phone. I took a sneaky photo and sent it to my housemate saying I think I've just seen your man in Tesco and she said it definitely wasn't him.
So i don't know what kind of a metric it is how many people have something as their ring tone in terms of popularity, but it must mean something!

Hey folks, new on here nd glad to be here. Shame to see that things might be slowing down, but might be able to get some discussion going?
Tomorrow, our Podcast on the Gerry Anderson shows reaches UFO for the first time, where we look at "Identified" and the main focus will be the aliens depiction in this first tale.
I'll be putting up a link for it and would love it if you could have a listen and let me know what you think!

I just realised UFO is back on free to air TV.  Here in England it's currently on ITVX and Legend (Freeview & Sky).
That may garner more interest.
