Deleted scene from COMPUTER AFFAIR

Hi all,

Just added a photo to my UFO Series Home Page that could use some explanation:

  http://ufoseries.com/publicity/detail.php?217

At first I didn't know what this was from.  The first thing I usually do is
to figure out which episode it is from based on the costumes.  I quickly determined
that this was from COMPUTER AFFAIR.  Then I checked the script for that episode,
and found a sequence early on where Freeman returns to SHADO HQ from Moonbase,
and Straker congratulates him for his 25th trip to the Moon, and pins something on
his jacket (you can read this on my website, as I have the script transcribed there).
And that's what this photo is from.  Although here it looks like he got a commemorative
coin or a watch instead of a pin.

If you then look at the actual episode, you can see that the scenes after this are
still there, and that Freeman does have that red container in his hand.

Hi Marc,

This scene is also referenced on page 18 of the UFO2 novel - pretty much as per the script.

Hope this helps,

Griff

PS. And thanks so much for the photo!!

I had completely forgotten about this scene... and thanks to Doug Pelton for
lending me the 35mm slide that this was scanned from!

Re: Deleted scene from COMPUTER AFFAIR

Bruce Sherman
If the scene was filmed. I would say never say never that it is 100% lost to time.  I remember the movie 1776.  They had scenes removed from its theatrical release.  Decades later they found the soundtrack here, the film elements there, and with modern technology they were able to restore it back to the directors vision for the movie.

Now this is a extreme they did with a old silent black and white movie.  So far the film is lost, but they have enough still images to recreate the story line, and did so.  they took the stills, created a zooming in effect to give a notion of motion, and used the original storyline cards to tell the story.  The Cabinet of Dr Calgari???
