Re: New UFO Models

Mark Patton
Yea your right about the picture.
Not much i can do about that.
If there was a picture around when i posted i would have included a link.

Try this one on for size:
http://world.altavista.com/urltrurl?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.konami.co.
jp%2Fcp%2Fcandy%2Ffuture%2Findex.html

You will notice that you get pictures of TB series 2 and
they mention a Series of Capt. Scarlet.

Regards,
Mark

UFO Episode Discussion -- IDENTIFIED

Marc Martin
Administrator
In reply to this post by SumitonJD
Hi all,

Well, it seems that we've already gotten more willing participants
for another round of episode discussions than we had the last time we
tried this, so I guess nothing should stop us from getting underway
right now.

In the past, we have done this in the "Marc Martin's" preferred order
listed on my website. With only the first A&E set released so far,
we may want to change that down the road, in case Set 2 hasn't been
released by the time we get that far.

In any case, I think we can all agree that the first episode up for
discussion is IDENTIFIED.

In the past, we've allowed either one or two weeks for discussion.
Seems that two weeks was the more popular option, as it helped people
to keep up with the discussion.

Of course, with IDENTIFIED, for the first time we've got the extended
opening and shortened closing scene and Gerry Anderson's commentary
to discuss as well.

So, for the next two weeks, let's hear people's comments on IDENTIFIED!

I'm not sure why there was no or little discussion first time around,
perhaps lack of photo as Brian suggested. But, I did kick off my
original posting [today] with a caveat this could be old news :-)

By the way I can't seem to get your link to work.

But it is nice to see someone having faith to produce UFO models.
Having not seen the Thunderbird series, I would be interested if they
were considered mor a model than a toy, or vice-versa ??

I'm kinda glad that the Gay Ellis, is the bait figure, as to my mind
the the hardware "figures" are more appealing as models. So knowing my
luck my case will have 10 Gay Ellis's, you watch. But it is nice to
get a display case with a set of 10.

If the figures are $2.60 indivdually in Japan HLJ price of $25.00 for
a case of 10 is not bad.

Thanks for the link! Man, I forgot how much fun it is to read Japanese
translated word for word into English.

That sounds a neat idea, so everyone who these models appeal to gets
one set and then we can see who is short of what? With a view to
setting up a trading syndicate?? Any takers'?

I still have a suspicion that one of the models maybe made in lower
numbers than than the others. I'm not a trading card collector but I
think this is a common ploy to get multiple purchases. I guess we will
have to wait until they are released.

Marty.......

Works for me, and I'm almost willing to bet that the Gay Ellis figure will be the
hardest to come by.

Besides, I'm sure the sight of him in the opening credits attracted
plenty of viewers.

Thanks.

One more quickie -- just watched Computer Affair -- I didn't get the
comment by Bradley at the end when he says "1984..." while looking at
the bottle of wine/champagne. What is he talking about?

Anthony
>>

It's the year the wine was bottled - presumably a good year?

<<
That's exactly what threw me! When he says "1984 ... in 20 years...", I
thought to myself perhaps the episode was written in 1964 and the writer
got his continuity all scrambled up. Then I remembered (and a previous
post from Marc confirmed) that the series was vintage 1970, so that
didn't make sense either.

It's a very odd piece of dialogue.
>>

Well, the series was made in 1970, but was supposed to be taking place
in the 80s - took 10 years to set up SHADO.

Well, poop! I don't have the DVDs yet, so can't discuss the extras.

All you have to do is click on the url and then copy and paste the
broken part into the browser address field! No biggie.

Perhaps the reading of the line is this "1984...in 20 years.." Bradley
wondering what the next 20 years or 2004 will bring and where they will be?
Just a thought anyway.
