Does anyone here entertain such a far out thought as this????

teenagerinsac <TeenagerInSAC@aol.com>
Why hasn't anyone ever thought to approach a financier for producing a UFO
return into the TV market...
Why not see if maybe Aaron Spelling might consider such a thing.... what
would he have to lose???

He has more $$$$ than the Almighty as it is!! :):)

Thanks

I think that this has happened several time in the past few decades.
So far, nobody's gotten anywhere with it... even a rich German banker
was about to purchase the rights to it a couple years ago, then the
guy seemingly vanished!

Yes, the markets went South pretty dramatically at around the
same time, which has a lot to do with it, I suspect.

I think that hoping for a new UFO series/film/whatever in the 21st
Century is a bit like wishing for a Beatles reunion - it's not
going to happen, and if it did most of us would wish it hadn't.

You mean.... you don't think Gerry Anderson would be of the idea to have his
shows' rights sold or otherwise backed by a big-name success like
Spelling????

The guy has a track record you can't beat!! INSTANT SUCCESS!!

Has anyone asked Mr. Anderson such a question? Or thought of it?

Thanks

What makes you think that Spelling would be interested? UFO was
cancelled due to poor ratings, and video sales have been poor in the
USA. It doesn't sound like a recipe for success to me!

Besides, most of these modern remakes for 1960's TV shows have ended
up to be disasters...

Yes, that question has been asked of Gerry Anderson at every
Fanderson convention, and I suspect he gets asked such questions daily
by fan letters.

1- Times have changed.. "Star Wars" and other film projects have garnered=
$$$$$$ at box office

2-- Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

3-- Technology has advanced in such a degree as to allow for much cheaper
filming of FX stuff :)

Thanks

Yes, well, STAR WARS was a long time ago -- I think times have changed,
and then perhaps changed back again... I mean, I saw EMPIRE STRIKES
BACK 6 times in the theater, and have yet to see ATTACK OF THE CLONES.
(hmmm, perhaps it's me that's changed?)

So? There are all sorts of cheesy sci-fi shows on the air these days
using this new technology, but the shows are still no good. UFO had
some pretty expensive sets & props too -- technology isn't going to
help you much there...
