Ed Bishop NOT voicing Captain Blue in New Captain Scarlet

Hi all,

For all you Ed Bishop fans, I just heard from Helen Weber that Ed
will NOT be the voice of Captain Blue in the new Captain Scarlet
series. Ed received a letter from Gerry Anderson stating this.

While it's sad news, it's also
completely understandable as Ed's
voice has radically changed since
1967. Still, it would be nice if
Gerry offered him another character
to voice-say, Colonel White?

I can't say I'm surprised - the Captain Blue voiceover Ed did for the
DVD didn't quite work in my opinion. While Francis Matthews' voice
somehow didn't seem to have changed since the '60s, Ed's voice was
very obviously that of a much older man.

It would be great if they could use Ed's original voiceover from the
opening in the old series though ..

I have to agree with James. When I saw the clip at the last Fanderson Con,
I was very aware of how much Bishop's voice had aged. It just didn't fit
the young character he was portraying. Which is a shame, because it's still
a very dynamic voice. On the other hand, Francis' voice hadn't aged at all.
Wild, isn't it?
Yours,
Denise
