I just got an email from DDD stating that the UFO DVD set 2 has been
shipped. It's the standard freebie shipping so I hope I'll get by
the end of next week.

Just ordered my copy and I noticed that UFO Set 2 is #16 on their Best
Seller list!

I think my special ceremony might involve a handful of biker speed since
I'm tempted to watch all 13 episodes in one sitting! (And now that I think
of it, I could have used some of that when trying to make it through Gerry
Anderson's commentary track on 'Identified'...)

While I can't say any of the better episodes rank with the best TV ever
produced, I think three or four stand apart from the rest:

'Identified' is ostensibly about as pure a concept of the show as we'll get
since Gerry wrote and directed. Great intro to the characters, plenty of
action, gore, near-nudity and violence...drags a bit in the middle, but the
ending is extremely downbeat and horrifying!

'The Dalotek Affair' I really enjoyed. A bit of everything in this one -
UFOs, explosions, romance, and a hint of an earlier TV broadcasting career
for Lt. Keith Ford that he may have been forced to abandon for reasons
about which we can only speculate...

'Confetti Check A-OK'...a lot like 'A Question of Priorities' as Straker's
marriage is under the microscope. Good acting from everyone for a change,
and a hint that the series is getting stronger material soon...

Now the bad part....three of the worst:

'Conflict' - had me wondering if they still sell Jolt Cola. TV shouldn't
put you to sleep should it?
'Court Martial' - no aliens, no UFOs (okay, fine), but please god not a
Courtroom Drama!
'Flight Path' - what the hell was this about anyway? Cool ending though

Honourable Mention: 'Ordeal' - "It was all just a dream..."

haircut. What on earth were makeup thinking of? Looks like a
very bad syrup! And what was Mr. Cole doing agreeing to having it

Also, did anyone order from Amazon.com (or someone else besides A&E)
and received a message saying your DVDs have shipped?

Normally I order from Deep Discount DVD, but I ordered UFO set 2 from
Amazon.com because of a gift certificate I received. I haven't
received any notification yet from Amazon.com that it has shipped. I
assume they won't ship until the 28th.

Got them!!! A couple of minutes ago, the mailman delivered my Set
#2!! Good delivery time, got the e-mail note last Monday night,
where they said it would take about 5 business days, and got them
today. By the way, with Set #1, I didn't get them as fast, it
probably took them about 8-9 business days, I was getting concerned
about them that time.

Now, as for the viewing ritual, I have two options so far:
1) Watch each episode, one a week, Sunday nights at 7pm (that's when
they used to broadcast the episodes when I saw them for the first
time when I was a kid). Drawbacks: it would take almost 3 months to
watch all of them, and this Sunday is Superbowl Sunday! Oh, and I
would need a black and white TV like in the old days, which I don't
have!

2) Watch them at midnight, one per night, for the next several days,
with a glass of red wine. Drawbacks: will be hard to get up the next
morning to go to work!

Any fun suggestions? I would love to organize UFO viewing parties,
but I am not sure who else would be nut enough to join me! On the
other hand, I am sure my wife won't like the two options I am
considering so far...

My website has "associate links" to Amazon.com, and I'm able
to look and see how many people have ordered the DVDs through
my website and if they've shipped. According to what it says, 12
people pre-ordered UFO Set 2 from Amazon.com via my website,
and of those, 2 have already shipped!

Although, I also see that somebody *returned* one of their
UFO Set 1's... unbelievable! :-)
