Ed Bishop's play

J Ramage-2
Was just wondering if anyone else had been to see 'Of Mice and Men' at the Old Vic in London, as some people were talking about arranging a trip there a while back. Just to say, if anyone was still uncertain about going to see this play with Ed Bishop in, that it is well worth seeing. My friend and I got back from a little expedition to London a few days ago and we managed to see it twice whilst there. Although it's not something I would have chosen to go and see if I hadn't wanted to see Ed perform live on stage, I really enjoyed it as did my friend and we'd highly recommend it. Think it has a few more days before it closes. And meeting the man himself afterwards for a quick chat was also an added bonus, as always. Thankfully my friends photos of the trip and the performance turned out so we have a record of the event.

I would be interested to see if there were any reviews available online yet though as it didn't seem exactly 'packed' the two nights we were there, and it would be interesting to see how the play had gone down with the general public.

Jess

Jess,
there are several reviews of the play on the net. The best way to
find them is to look for "Of Mice and Men" "Old Vic" as your search words and
this will get you the current reviews from different sources such The Stage, and
BBC's What's On. The Old Vic's own site has a nice bit on it and I see in its
ad for the play they had Ed listed 4th in the credits. I also see that the
play is producted by Bill Kenwright, a name not unknow to the theatre world or
me as he has done several of Gabrielle's plays in the past to great reviews.

Ed's also listed fourth on the flyers we picked up for the play,
although he probably has the smallest of the speaking parts, with
only one real 'scene' and then a few lines here and there. Still
worth seeing though :) As for Gabrielle's plays I still wish I had
been able to see her in The Rivals when it came to Inverness but
things didn't work out. Heard of Bill Kenwright though, and I
suppose technically I worked for him once, or for his company at
least...[albeit as a dogsbody]

Happy Birthday Gabrielle

Griff!
Hi All :)

My somewhat less satisfactory and certainly less efficient version of Miss
Ealand (my organiser) tells me that today is Gabrielle Drake's birthday...
At risk of being somewhat ungallant her birthday is a significant one (maybe
not to her) as it has a zero in it (although you would have to ask SID to
calculate
((((402*2)*0.25)/3)-(3.5*2)sin90) to truly discern the facts.

Have a SUPER BIRTHDAY Gabrielle!!

Best to all

Griff
