Ed Bishop's voice

I am extremely sorry if I offended anyone with my remark about Ed Bishop's
voice.

But presumably in the world of the story, unlike the real Ed Bishop, he has
spent much of his time since in and around SHADO Headquarters in England, and
his voice would not have have become much (if any) more American during that
time. There are degrees of American-ness in speech accents. Unless the aliens
were losing so many men and ships that finally they stopped coming and SHADO
could be wound down and Straker could go to duties back home in USA. I was not
doubting Ed Bishop's ability to produce different manners of speech. Sorry. I
was merely pointing out, that if Ed Straker's voice as in UFO is Ed Bishop's
natural voice as it was when the episodes were shot, it is not his voice as it
is now, if the above argument is valid.

At the Coventry convention, someone said that a particular other actor (I
forget his name) in the old days had a purely British accent, but over many
years of living in USA his voice has gone American and now to act a British
character he has to re-learn a British accent.

Surely Ed Bishop lives in the UK, like Ed Straker does (or would, if he
were a real person :-), and his voice would normally become more English,
not less. But then 'normally' wouldn't apply here since I believe Ed
Bishop's mainly portraying Americans in British productions, so he would
have to make sure to sound American.
