Ed Bishop update

Marc Martin
Administrator
Hi all,

The following was posted on EdBishopFans:

Ed's burial will be private, on Tuesday of this week, 21th June
in a place where his children and grandchildren live. Ed died of
a normal chest infection, he just wasn't able to fight it off.

The original reports were that Ed died of something he obtained
at the hospital while being treated for something else. The
above indicates that he died of the infection that he
went to the hospital for in the first place, and it was not
something he picked up at the hospital.

Amelia, You will be missed. I hope you will come back one day. I know how much it hurts when a favorite celebrity dies. In 1980 (our time not UFO) Karen Carpenter died. I was in therapy for family issues and hearing about her death pushed me over the edge. I was not hospitalised but that day made my best friend wish he had never met me. I was in tears for days. At the time I was still living with my parents but I was inconsolable. Our memories of our favorite celebrities are special. One day it will hurt less and I hope on that day you will come back to us.

Helen got this from Jane. This is all the closure we will have.

Also, Jane will not be accepting any letters from fans, and whatever was
sent to Joan Gray's office for Ed in the way of cards and letters is lost, since
that office is being sold.

So Ed's burial is tomorrow, my time period, so we can only participate in
the burial by sending him our thoughts and (if your belief system permits)
prayers.

I've been in UFO fandom for a long time, and I am leaving this list because
for me, Ed was UFO. I mean no disrespect to any of the other stars, such as
George Sewell, whom I really enjoyed, and Gito, whom Ed always talked about
having lunch with while they were in costume.

Marc, I'll eventually try to complete that project I told you I would do,
regarding all of Ed's work, because I want people to be able to enjoy his other
achievements besides 'Straker'. I recently dug up another Voice over he did.
'Monsters of the ID' _http://www.monstersmovie.com/castcrew.htm_
(http://www.monstersmovie.com/castcrew.htm) There's a picture of Ed there,
possibly the most recent of him, since the site owner says this :
18.6.05 - Less than 3 months ago Ed Bishop voiced a character for me and now
I hear he has tragically passed away. More news at _www.fanderson.org.uk_
(http://www.fanderson.org.uk/) in the news section. I was very upset to hear
this. I pass on my condolences. I am glad I managed to make and send him the
part of 'Id' that he is in. At least he must have seen that. Perhaps his last
production. Michael Billington also passed away a few days earlier. Both men
were stars of the UFO TV series.

I was doing what I always did, digging in the Internet to find Ed's photos
and work, and last night I found that. Ed did a lot of unusual stuff, like
the vo on an Roger Waters album 'Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking' and even a long
VO on a Bananarama video 'And that's not All'

I won't be using this bedsitter addy any more.
It is not a UFO list, it's for Ed's work only. I won't be creating a
website, because Ed was content with ISOSHADO, and informed me indirectly through
Helen that he didn't want a official website, so I'm going to do what he
wanted. Ed and I never exchanged a word, other than once, when he thanked me by
snail mail for a project Dave Walsh did, and I cherish the note and photograph
I have, and the envelope. I cherish also a check of his I won at a charity
auction. However, I came to know him from my relationship with Helen.

It is my hope that , and forgive me Paolo for saying this while pain is
fresh, once some time passes, Isoshado again opens, because essentially it is a
photo album of Ed's life, and recorded times of happiness for him, and as
such, shouldn't be lost on a shelf. I'm going out on a limb here and say that I
think others feel the same, especially the Italian fans.

I've been looking for obits, and I keep coming across forums of all kinds
and people on them registering shock and dismay about Ed and Mike's passing, and
some said they had no idea how much work Ed has to his credit. He left us
not only the DVD's but a great legacy of work.

I miss you so much, George Victor Bishop.

I'll leave you with a version of what I said on EBF.

Commander Straker and Ed Bishop will never be lost to us, for they are now
legend, and only become more luminous when they are remembered.

SHADO operative Amelia signing off and taking the amnesia shot for good.
