Hi Yuchtar, the detective was played by Trevor Eve he's remembered
mostly for the character of Eddie Shoestring a private eye he played
back in the 70's? in the long running BBC TV series called "Shoestring".
It might have popped up in the US on the PBS stations or nowadays on
BBC America, it still runs here in the UK on the re-run station UKGold.

No problem...been a longtime fan of Ed's work and always try to catch
him when he's on TV or more often radio these days, thought he was
excellent in the Glenn Miller radio play a while back, only listened
again to the tape we have of it a couple of weeks ago.
