I stood next to Ed for a picture and, while my husband loaded a new
battery in the camera, I turned toward him to apologize for the wait. I
have to say that his eyes haven't lost anything. I was transfixed by
them! I would agree with James that he is definitely not intense at all
like Straker. He seems very mild mannered and charming which makes him
sexy in a different way.

Re: Ed's Intensity

Chris Kirtley
Amelia and all,

Your message is very poignant. In a way, I'm always a
bit disappointed with groups such as UFO (but don't
shoot yet, please!), because what is, of course, most
interesting is what brings us all together. And we
rarely discuss this. Maybe I could start...

I grew up in the late '60s, early '70s when there were
an incredible amount of moon landings. Since then
there have been none. To me this is the defining fact
of my generation, and I am constantly aware of it
because I teach students who were born after the last
landing.

I see this down the track as a bit like Christ - none
of us now know whether Christ ever lived, but I know
that Neil Armstrong & Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon -
didn't they??? Lots of people would now have you
believe that it all happened in a film studio.

Well, I'll tell you - it wasn't just moon landings -
in the '70s WE (as a people) did so much! Gerry &
Silvia made Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlett, Stingray,
and UFO. I have never seen anything like this
creativity since.

And I think it is time we discussed why this is.

Chris

... don't get me wrong, by the way - I still think
that Ed was the most magical personna of the '70s. And
he maintains his aura to this day.

Thanks, Lorraine, for sharing that sweet moment with The Man. It is so good
to hear that he's so affable. (Some actors can be so condescending.) I too
find sweetness sexy, and I'm glad to know that he is more than what his
photos reveal.

Straker, somehow it's always about you.
