As Marc replied this position of CWTL being broadcast as the third episode is consistent with the original ATV running order.
I quite agree it's not the most logical sequence, but I defend it for two reasons, one on a personal level the other more general.
Firstly this is how I remember UFO being transmitted,so it's a nostalgia thing.
I think this order was chosen deliberately to cater for the obvious non appearance of Foster in the first 4 episodes, the dis-appearance of Freeman in the last 9 episodes and the corresponding emergence of Lake in those same episodes.

The central characters are likely to be one of the most important reasons why people watch the shows.

Being a lead the audience might put up with Foster dis-appearing once but not 2 or 3 times, hence the stipulation that EXPOSED being screened as the second episode.

Then to show CA and FP without Foster after such an important episode to introduce him may not have been seen as a good idea.
So show CWTL instead,Freeman has already been established in 2 eps,now firm up Lake and Foster.

Doing it this way all the main characters are maintained during the whole series, only missing the odd episode.

It seems the ost plausible reason to me.

Re: Episode Order

Fair comments all...

My favourite running order (being rather pragmatic) is the original
production order.

Did anyone see the series when it was shown on BBC 2... a few years ago.. it was very heavily censored... e.g.- the showewr scene in the episode... Survival.
