Thought this was interesting. UFO ranks pretty damn high.

The Man From UNCLE can be seen in the paragraph listing top shows of 1965. How neat to see that UNCLE rates ahead of Batman in this poll listed below. Due South? Nip and Tuck? The Muppet Show? Those are SciFi? There's a
bunch of others in there that shouldn't be on a SciFi list, either... Marc Douglas wrote: >Thought this was interesting. UFO ranks pretty damn high. > > [snip] |

I suspect the operative word here was "cult" rather than "sftv" ...
Due South is freaky, in it's defense. If a lip reading deaf wolf dog and Benton Fraser's ability to taste things and talk to his dad (no longer with us) don't count as sorta paranormal and wierd .......... oh heavens. wonder if there's anyone out there who knows both shows well enough to do an xover ..... straker and benton .... omg ...! dragon of the easily distractable mental processes -- In [hidden email], "Mario M. True, but a few others aren't either 'cult' or 'sftv' .. Fawlty Towers for example. -- Dig It : a forum for European Beatles fans - http://beatles.dyndns.org/ |

Fawlty > Towers for example. possibly not in England, but it is kinda cult figured in the US .... so if there were a number of US fans voting, Fawlty Towers fits like Monty Python does ... kinda looks like the fans voted for shows they regarded as cult rather than the people gave them a list and asked them to pick their favorites. after all, cult status depends on the fans, not on some outside agency determining what is and isn't a cult... i may not agree (muppet show???? *snicker* then again, there was the FK fan who came up with a parody of the opening of that show to fit the Count from the Muppets ...... hmmmmmmm .... just exactly what would happen if the muppets saw an alien ....... *shakes head to get the marbles back in the right slots* ... sorry) personally, i found the list entertaining and enlightening. <g> laters dragon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I LOVED Pigs in Space on The Muppets and I also noticed the Muppets used a
piece of equipment from MoonBase in one of their eps featuring Karen Carpenter singing Calling Interplanetary Craft - both shows were done on ITV premises at times weren't they? Pam the Canuck |
...and Miss Piggy in a purple Moonbase wig woulda been the icing on the cake!

The Muppet show was shot in studio D at the then ATV studios (what started life as the Neptune Film Studios) at Elstree/Borehamwood. now incidentally owned by The BBC and home to Eastenders, Holby City and former home to Grange Hill before it went scouse. Ive always found it strange that while UFO was shot for ATV/ITC, The only clips that appear to have been shot at ATV were the use of the front of the Neptune house studio offices as the harlington straker studio offices and possibly some of the backlot studio scenes. UFO seems to try and squeeze its production into free sound stage time where ever it could get it. The sound stages UFO used were at the MGM studios for about 2/3rds of the episodes and after they ran out of studio time on the sound stages there, filming stopped for 6 months and then moved to the Rank Studios at Pinewood. I think it fairly safe to assume that as the ATV studios would have been the administrative base that storage for props and sets would have been at ATV which explains how some props were dusted off for use in Pigs in space. |
I'm just glad Miss Piggy didn't show up with a purple wig. LOL. Cookie monster eating her hair was funny enough. LOL.

Considering he is given credit for UFO, no one hardly mentions his name
here. Can anyone give information about him? Bruce |

Hi all,
I see that Fanderson has announced 3 new UFO guests for their convention this September -- Alan Perry, Dolores Mantez, and Jane Merrow. http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news2.html#Countdown I thought I heard somewhere that Jane Merrow didn't even recall appearing in UFO, although perhaps that was one of those false rumors... There hasn't been much coverage anywhere (that I can recall) about Reg Hill's contribution to UFO. I know that in the DVD commentary, Sylvia implies that she ended up doing the job that Reg was supposed to be doing, but who knows how accurate that is... Marc |
