Fanderson News on UFO Soundtrack CD!

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned a person who contacted me after
purchasing a double UFO soundtrack CD at a local sci-fi convention
("The Supermegashow" at the Newark NJ Airport Sheraton). We
decided to do a CD-R swap to see how this soundtrack differed
from the single CD which came out in 1997 and has been offered in
a variety of forms on eBay ever since. He received a copy of
my single CD, and confirms that the one he has contains a lot
more music. He plans on sending me a copy next week, so I'll
get a chance to hear what he's got. And certainly if it indeed
does have new, high quality music, I'll be updating my UFO music
page with some new MP3s!

The "More UFO Music" CD project was going to be a follow up to the
first fan-created UFO soundtrack CD, except that instead of
containing original Barry Gray music heard in the series, it was
going to contain the amazing number (~18) of cover versions that were
made of the UFO theme in the years since. I don't think the person
who distributed these CDs was all that enthused by the final version
of the CD... possibly due to the mind-numbing effect of hearing
variations of the same song OVER-and-OVER again for an hour!

BTW, I just got a CD-R copy of that UFO CD that was purchased in a
convention in New Jersey, and am listening to it now. It is
definitely NOT a leaked version of the upcoming Fanderson CD, and yet
it is also not just another version of the old fan-created soundtrack
CD, as it does have some new stuff not heard on that CD nor heard on
the MP3 files found on my website over the years. So far, I'd say
that it's from a mishmash of sources, including:

1) the older fan-created UFO soundtrack CD
2) extra stuff that's appeared on my website's "music" page or the
old "Barry Gray Music of the Week"
3) stuff recorded directly off of the episodes themselves, complete
with background sound effects
4) additional music which is higher quality than what's generally
been circulating around fandom, but still with some tape dropouts.
5) a few sound effects

I'm going to go through this CD and select some new tracks from the
4th category above and add them to my "music" page. Should hold
folks over who've been waiting far too long for the Fanderson CD to
come out. Hold on -- some good stuff coming!

P.S. Oh, and for Fanderson staffers -- the missing music you seek
from THE LONG SLEEP is *not* on this CD... :-(
