These are my personal favourite experiences of the convention.
Meeting Ed Bishop is of course a memorable experience. I enjoyed speaking with him a little, about places in Scotland he is familiar with (not Aberdeen, sadly :^ ), and to have him let me take his photograph. Meeting Dolores Mantez was also memorable. I have to say that some recent photographs I have seen of her don't do her justice; as my photo of her in the photos section shows, she is still very attractive ! And a very nice person too ! My favourite panel discussion included directors David Lane and Alan Perry, along with John Hough, who had (like Dave and Alan) directed episodes of the Anderson series 'The Protectors'. Alan spoke of once having been working with David Lane and Derek Meddings (not on 'U.F.O.'). A sequence had to be filmed from a helicopter they were on board, with a hole in the floor to film through. Alan did the filming, suspended over the hole, supported only by Derek Meddings' belt tied around him, held by Derek ! Then - to get a sufficiently dramatic drop in altitude - Derek got the pilot to switch the engines off for a few seconds ! The helicopter went into a free-fall spin, and the engines were switched on again while the rotor blades were still spinning quickly enough to return to normal power; but as Alan said, if the health and safety authorities had found out what they did, none of them would have been allowed to work in the film industry again ! The funniest moments were undoubtedly the spoof films shown late on Sunday afternoon. Introduced as though they were genuine by a straight-faced Chris Bentley, they lampooned (among others) 'Space:1999' (original working title, 'Holy Sh*t - The Moon's Gone !', allegedly), and coined a new 'Space:1999' fan oath - 'By the Lost Marbles of Freiberger !' I was in tears of laughter during these films. Andy |

Thanks for sharing your fav moments, Andy! I'm still categorizing mine, so I'm keeping a low profile about that. But wasn't Dolores stunning? She hasn't changed at ALL!!! And so very sweet. >My favourite panel discussion included directors David Lane and Alan >Perry, along with John Hough, who had (like Dave and Alan) directed >episodes of the Anderson series 'The Protectors'. You could see those guys having the time of their lives risking life and limb for a good shot! >The funniest moments were undoubtedly the spoof films shown late on >Sunday afternoon. I'm used to American hosts at Cons, who are so full of themselves, you'd think they were more in demand than the guest stars! But Chris was simply a pleasure. He made the entire weekend come together so well, in spite of all the minor letdowns.
