Fly me to the Moon

docmed03
Watching "Cat with Ten Lives" last night, a thought came to me. Just
exactly how long does it take SHADO to get from Earth to the Moon, or
vice-versa? The Apollo astronauts took a couple of days, if I
remember correctly (and if I don't remember correctly, feel free to
correct me), but in "Cat...", Regan takes Foster's place on the moon
flight and arrives on the Moon while Foster is still unconscious.
After he arrives on Moonbase, then we see Foster attempting to get
out of the pit he fell in. In "Survival" there's a scene where
Straker tells Foster he'll be on the Moon in time for supper, which
indicates that a moon flight for SHADO is like us going on a long bus
excursion.

RE: Fly me to the Moon

Griff!
In 'Computer Affair', Straker say's to Foster, "We'll be home (Moonbase) for
supper", whilst they are driving along a road in daylight. Which implies a
journey of just a number of hours...

>Well, it's not quite impossible... the Apollo crafts take three days, in a trip by inertia and using the gravity of Earth and Moon...
The lunar craft seems to have more powerful engines, so they can make the trip to the moon in hours, instead of days. And, of course, a dose of license too, if the trip takes so long as three days, the moonbase could be in serious danger of being without rush supplies...
