I don't know if this has been discussed here previously, but I've
been meaning to bring it up for awhile now.
Watching UFO episodes where it was featured, I never got a clear
grasp on the actual shape of the Lunar Lander transporter aircraft. I
always thought the launching concept was interesting, particularly
the VTOL capability of such a large plane.
One of the reasons that I acquired the Konami UFO models was to be
able to view each from different angles. When I saw the transporter,
I recognized its shape instantly as the Vought XF5U Flying Pancake.

P.S. Skydiver's ass end looks like a 1960 Cadillac. But that's just
IMHO.
"Imagine a dying planet in some distant corner of the universe. Its natural resources exhausted. Its inhabitants sterile. Doomed to extinction. A situation we may one day find ourselves in, gentlemen. So they discover earth. Abundant, fertile. Able to satisfy their needs. They look upon us not with animosity, but callousness. As we look upon our animals that we depend on for food. Yes, it appears they are driven by circumstance across a billion miles of space, driven on by the greatest force in the universe - survival."
