"Free Enterprise"

Hi all,

After reading that UFO review from "Free Enterprise" director Robert
Meyer Burnett, I decided to rent the DVD of the movie. I liked it!
Of course, my wife thought it was horrible, but I guess she didn't
relate to these guys as well as I do... :-)

I thought the opening title sequence was sort of like Straker's
colorful display, and one of the characters had a Space:1999 eagle
model hanging from the ceiling, and one of the lines in the movie
referred to a "Space:1999 lunchbox".

The funniest thing for me, however, was as I was listening to the
commentary track and watching the special features, it occurred to me
that I actually once knew Robert Meyer Burnett! Back in my own
laserdisc/compact disc obsession in the 1980's, Robert worked at a
local CD/laserdisc store ("Silver Platters" in Bellevue Washington),
and was known as "Laser Bob"! I probably even discussed UFO with him
once...

Hi All - I loved Free Enterprise! There is a UFO reference - when the guys
are eating in a diner, some waittress with a purple wig serves them and they
make a comment that is unmistakably referring to UFO.....Pam

Thanks for pointing that out Pam!
And Marc missed it or didn't mention it to us. Guess he'll have to go on the
carpet with with Keith Ford!<g>

Yes, I forgot to mention the purple wig... although I don't recall
any UFO reference following it... (and it's too late to recheck, as
I've already returned it!)

Oh, well, I enjoyed it too - if only to laugh at how pathetic guys can
be. ROFL! I mean, imagine being obsessed by a TV show! <looking around
at all my Trek figures, Trek books, Klingon uniform> Heh. <slinking
away>
