I dread asking this, but are there UFO "completists" out there who just have to own every permutation of every video/DVD released in all countries, not forgetting the Super 8 films as well?

And (obviously) the menus and packaging are different. Also, don't the UK versions play slightly faster than the region 1 discs, thus altering the pitch of the actor's voices, whereas the region 1's play at the correct speed? The Region 1 (A&E USA) UFO DVDs have two additional commentary tracks that the UK sets do not -- Mike Billington/Alan Perry on KILL STRAKER, and Sylvia Anderson/Wanda Ventham on TIMELASH. There may be a few other extras... the "singing SID" was an outtake from IDENTIFIED. In the original script, the Moonbase commander was male, and as a hobby was teaching SID to sing. They actually recorded Mel Oxley singing "Home on the Range" for this, and this is what that extra feature is. As for me, I've still got my Japanese UFO laserdiscs, plus I've got quite a few of the DVD versions (UK, US, French, Italian, Australian, Japanese). I don't think I have any VHS versions anymore, and I've never owned any 8mm film versions... Marc |
