AS an 'oldie' I get confused by acronyms all the time.. especially LOL which used to mean Lots of Love, but seems to mean Loads of Laughs now. and ROTFL is just plain weird! I'll stick with TANSTAAFL!

LEO - and that's a Space based acronym as well as my initials! Handy eh?

Guess that I'm old, too.  I thought LOL meant Laugh out Loud these days.  I can't keep up with this stuff!

Actually, if you want to nitpick English, you were right the first time, the apostrophe is necessary: Rank has it's privileges - "it's" indicating thepossessive, the privileges belong to the rank.

Wrong! - The apostrophe is not needed - it is not used to indicate
ownership, as there is no need to distinguish it from a plural form.



The apostrophe is needed in the case of 'Herbert's' for example, to
distinguish it from 'Herberts' (as in more than one Herbert). There is no
plural form of 'it'.
