Fw: [SHADO] Re: Looking for some help with an actress......./REACTION SHOTS

Interesting. I believe that there is something called a "reaction shot" where an extra will be paid more if he or she has to react to what's going on around them. The reaction could be nothing more than a mere glance at a leading actor, rather than simply walking past or ignoring him.I'm not sure if the "reaction shot" extends to someone who is 'frozen' looking down the dress of another extra though. This is starting to get rathercomplicated. Best to ask an expert in the TV/film industry!!

All The Best,

BRIAN

--------------------------------------

Apart from the regular actors, a number of non-regular actors would have been engaged for the frozen scenes, some tableaux would have been detailed inthe script, others detailed in advance by the director. Some needed very careful pre-planning because of the unusual props - e.g. the suspended chair, the frozen sawdust, others were a bit more flexible.

The leering-down-the-dress-front could have been either pre-planned, in which case a suitable actress would have been specifically chosen and a dress made/chosen to suit the shot or it could be that the actress was engaged for this flexible scene and the sight of her in the low-cut dress inspired the looking-down-the-cleavage idea.

What certainly SHOULDN'T have happened on any well run production is that the idea was detailed in advance yet the choice of actress was left until itwas seen who turned up as extras. a) there may have been no suitable extra, b) there may not have been a suitable dress in the right size for her.

Apart from the fact that if an extra became especially featured in a shot than you would have to pay them the same amount as if you had cast them in advance anyway (assuming that the strong union of the time would even allow this) things like this just should never be left to chance.
Serendipity happens on a film set but it would never by relied on by any sensible producer.

Regards
John

Dear All,

As a spectacle wearer i often have the frozen reaction / expression especially when approached by ladies who have "large earings" as an example Its to do with optics and focus!

Do other UFO fans have a similar problem?

Yes, I have the same reaction/condition on exceptional occasions, although I do not always wear glasses, and anyway this tends to be obviated or augmented by proximity... I think with regard to "large earings" I believe this reaction is an unconscious, spontaneous and instinctive male condition bought about by genetics and rather a lot of evolution .... :)

As the recipient of the reaction/condition experienced by many of you men, I must say that I generally don't mind. I quite understand your desire to look closely at my 'large earrings.' Hoewever, it's when you start to drool that I object.

Guys,
I don't even mind if you drool (as long as you keep your distance!) But don't ask for my number -- ogling is a real turn-off to me, so you won't get it! *grin*

Mario,
Now that would be stupid, wouldn't it? No, I just like them to have enoughclass not to be obvious! I know, I ask a lot of my men. But my hubby passed the test! (That's why I keep him around.) *grin*
