Oh no, if UFO had come after SPACE 1999 it may have been produced in a very"Americanized" way or in that dreadful Anglo/Italian style complete with a shape-shifting character as a plot solution device.

I am always annoyed by the episode where Straker has a drink of alcohol with Freeman, having stated in an earlier episode that he doesn't drink ( I can accept him drinking at his wedding) It gives theimpression that the overall producers weren't really doing their job! It smacks of laziness... or perhaps I'm too anal about things like that. The programme was aimed at adults, and more care could have been taken withsome aspects. It didn't matter with Thunderbirds when there were inconsistencies; children wouldn't have bothered about those things! And why did UFO not have a 'bible' so that these sorts of problems would not have occurred. Surely that was a common item to have in any production? It really was a shame that UFO was the Andersons first non=puppet production. If it had come after Space 1999 then it might have lasted longer. But I STILL love it! and that's the mark of an exciting series, despite its many faults! --- In SHADO@yahoogroups. com, "Mark Davies" <aonq79@...> wrote: > > Sorry John, that does not explain the inconsistencies and continuity errors in the show. I hate to break the news to you, but ALL of the ITC shows were produced with an eye on the US market, including UFO - hence the American lead. Iagree that 1999 year 2 was a definate comedown from the superb year 1, butit is still good popcorn fun and far superior to anything the Americans were making at the time (Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Project UFO et al).
