I agree. I was surprised when they made Arthur Dent a black man in the filmversion of "The Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy." I always thought of Arthur as white. There's political correctness for you again. It was an understandable mistake setting UFO in 1980. Maybe it should have been set in theyear 2500 instead. Now there's a question for all you UFO fans:
Which year would you have ideally set "UFO" in? ----- Forwarded Message ---- From: Billy Killian <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Thu, 11 February, 2010 4:14:14 Subject: Re: [SHADO] Re: my thoughts about the UFO movie... I think I have said it before but it still hold true and that is if its notbroke don't fix it. If as they say the love the original UFO there is no need to put a new spin on a character by making them a different Ethnic group or different hair color or age or what ever. Since they are going to set this about ten years in the future which is the same amount of time that the original UFO was set ahead they can play around with the Tech and vehicleand craft designs and set designs and even costuming to a certain degree. But when they start making any changes to the characters it stops being UFO. Oh, Denise, love the sight and stories. Anthony, I quite agree. I have always hated remakes. They never seem to get what made the original a hit needed to STAY a part of the show! That said, I so totally enjoyed the remake of Star Trek that I'm hopeful that UFO will have a similar miracle. I know some ST fans hated the remake, but I'm a diehard fan myself and I laughed and laughed! Gene would have loved it. So it could happen again -- for UFO this time. We'll all find out one way or the other anyway, won't we? In just about a year's time. It was Ford who was black in the film, not Arthur.

Look At the time period. At lease here in the U.S. The UFO craze was still going strong. A lot of people were still wondering about area 51. and of course "MIB" (Men In Black). The new movie should have better tech to detact UFO's, Use of our own lazers against them as well as missiles. Dave (NY) In a message dated 2/11/2010 9:50:13 A.M.
