Hi All,
The following e-mail was just posted on the Space:1999 mailing list.
While it's specifically concerns the USA Space:1999 DVD release,
it's also of interest here as A&E/New Video will be releasing
other Gerry Anderson series on DVD in the USA:

Subject: Space 1999 US DVD Update
Hi all. I want to give everyone an update on the status of the US
DVDs of Space 1999. This information is current as of 9/20/00.
- Season one will be released in two stages. The first half will be
released late January 2001. The second half will also be released in
2001 but no firm date as of yet.
- Season two will also be in two stages. It's possible that the
first half will be released before the end of 2001. Obviously, the
second half will be released in 2002.
- I specifically asked about the rumor of 16mm transfers. They
confirmed that all transfers are coming from new 35mm prints. There
will be NO 16mm prints used. They stated that this is the best that
Space 1999 has ever looked including the original broadcasts in the
1970s.
- The only extras that will be on the first release will be the
original episode trailers. If the release does well (i.e. sales),
then they will explore the possibility of putting some extras on
future releases.
- New Video is committed to putting out the ENTIRE two seasons of the
show.
- For you Thunderbirds fans, New Video is planning on releasing these
after Space 1999 as well as future releases of all of Gerry
Anderson's shows.
Please remember that this info is for the US DVD releases only. I'll
keep everyone posted of any future developments.
