Hi All,

Christian Jenisch received the Italian Deluxe UFO DVD set today, and
here's his first impressions:

Subject: Italian UFO 5 DVD box set

Hi Marc,

Today I've received the Italian UFO box set (the extended edition, of
course :-)
I'll give you my first impressions:

The box itself is a cardboard box. I've opened it and the first thing
I saw was the SHADO badge which one can stick on the clothing. The
part with the characters seems to me a little bit to big in relation
to the part with the man and his shadow. But it's a nice addition.

There are five (post)cards with colo(u)r photos from the show on the
front and smaller black and white behind-the-scenes pictures on the
back. The five cards show

*Sky 1 flying above the clouds
*Gay Ellis sitting on her "desk" on Moonbase
*the three interceptors heading over the Moon from left to right
*Straker, Freeman and Ford in SHADO (from A QUESTION OF PRIORITIES)
*Straker aiming with a gun at Foster on Moonbase (from KILL STRAKER!)

At least the picture of Gay Ellis has a considerable green cast.
BTW, I have to say that I don't like the writing of the word UFO
(like the one on the Carlton box sets). That's not the style I'm
associating with this series. But that's my personal opinion, of
course :-)

The 16-page booklet is well done (I am not speaking of the text, of
course, because I don't speak Italian) and yes, these *are* the
pictures from your website, Marc - I recognise "our" work :-)

Next is a snippet from a 16mm film (# 2761) showing Straker and Ford
at SHADO (from IDENTIFIED). This is nice, too.

The DVDs are held in the same kind of box like the Carlton ones. At
least this box can't slip out of a holder like the Carlton one! The -
how should I say? - paper is matte, not glossy, so you have no
problems with visible fingerprints. I like this idea! Also the
fixtures for the DVDs seems to be better then the fixtures they've
used with Carlton - no DVDs falling out so far!

I took a look in the first and the last DVD and... well, I'm afraid,
I have to tell you tomorrow my "second impressions" :-) because it's
time to go to bed. Sorry, Marc ;-)

So long!
Christian

Italian UFO 5 DVD box set Lands in the UK

lunadude2001 <russell_smith@ntlworld.com>
My Italian box set arrived today in the UK - not bad considering it
was only posted Tuesday IN Italy !!

Similar observations, to the previous poster. The outer box is a
little like flight case/bound book. The DVD's are housed inside in a
lose digipak - pretty similar to the Carlton set. The box also
contains a enamel SHADO stud [this is loosely packed in the box] and
had caused some indentations to the inner part of the box. there are 5
post cards [loose] matt printed, 16 page glossy booklet, three frames
of 16mm film presented ala sensitype matte frame, like the 75mm film
frame that came as part of the superb 2001 boxed set. Genrally the
printing is not up to the same quality as the Carlton set - but is
pretty neat all the same. No chance to play the discs yet - I will
perhaps have to wait until the weekend, by which time others will have
commented on the visual contents.

My sensitype framed film is: three frames of film showing a
"typical" interceptor launch.
