I got the Australian Boxed set the other day and I have to say I have
thoroughly enjoyed the extras and commentaries on the set. I found Ed
Bishop's commentary was actually quite good if you took it that he
was watching the episode and only making a comment when something
came up he felt was worth talking about. In a way, it was like
watching the episode with Ed adding comments, rather than Ed talking
for an hour.

The most disappointing one for me was George Sewell, whose response
to every question about every person, effect, or aspect of production
seemed to be a jovial "Oh, yeah, marvellous. Wonderful, terrific."
His one interesting comment was when he was asked if something was a
conscious decision on Gerry Anderson's part. He responded that every
decision Gerry made was a conscious one, because Gerry was one of the
best TV producers in the world and wouldn't make unconscious
decisions! :)

Fascinating to own the entire series and realise how much the first
shooting block of episodes was almost purely about character drama
and only a few episodes focused on alien plots and even then plots
where the aliens used strategy only as means to achieve their aims.
It's almost pure human drama for an Anderson series.

Yes, that message was intended for the list. Sorry about that. I made a bit of a boo-boo! Thanks for forwarding it on for me.

Suffice it to say, I think the Australian DVD set is by and large the best thing I could have hoped for as a "UFO" fan. Though it does have some minor flaws. However, the flaws are not really enough to spoil the fun! :)
