For any Gabrielle Drake fans amongst us,
This is an excerpt from a magazine article I found on the Professionals, about Gabrielle Drake's episode 'Close Quarters'. Everyone's probably seen this before and will no doubt post to say so, but I thought it was funny. Next in production was 'Close Quarters' that came before the cameras in mid-October. Again this was written by Clemens and directed by William Brayne, who cast both Gabrielle Drake and Hildegarde Neil to headline the guest list. Drake went on record saying she did not enjoy making the episode due to the violence, nor did she consider the story or the show to have much in the way of morality. As Bodie and girlfriend Julia (Drake) are out on the river they sot and capture a member of the Meyer-Helmut group and later find themselves trapped in a country vicarage, unable to contact CI5 and with the rest of the gang closing in. It seems that the criminal cell featured in the episode was based on the early seventies West German terrorist group the Baader-Meinhof Gang. .Lewis Collins recalls the sequences filmed at Maidenhead, "I remember the scenes where actress Gabrielle Drake was rowing me in a boat. It was a very dramatic scene or supposed to be with no dialogue just background music. I don't know why, but suddenly I saw the funny side to the situation and started teasing her by shouting orders, just like an Oxford rowing coach. She was desperately trying to keep a serious face at the same time as guiding our boat in a straight line. Suddenly we hit the bank, the boat rocked and she fell in. By this time I was almost hysterical with laughter and stood up to help her and I fell in the water too with a loud splash. Director Bill Brayne eventually saw the funny side, even though we held up shooting for the rest of the day. That's from Action TV issue #7 Jessica |
I would love to see any behind the scene picts...

teresa (ita) There's nothing in the magazine unfortunately. It's pretty scant on pics altogether. Somewhere I have Gabrielle's ep on DVD so I don't know if there're any extra features like photos. I'll have a look. Jess |
