Hi guys,

I think many of these were employed on a weekly basis – didn't Harry
Baird leave partly due to the lack of a proper contract? Gabby and
Peter G. left to fulfil previous commitments. Check out
the "Complete Guide to UFO" – I'm sure that's where I read this.

Weren't Ed and George contracted for the first block of eps – but not
the second, kind of option to re-new if wanted? Okay, George got
other work, or he wasn't employed because he wasn't "good-looking"
enough – depends on who's talking :-) Ed as the main star was
probably more obligated, but neither Mike nor George appeared in all
of the first block episodes, whereas Ed did.

Mike did come back for the Pinewood lot, but totally blew it and
wasn't going to be returning for any "second" series at all. This is
in an interview somewhere – perhaps on Mike's site (?)

I think George might have come back for a second series if it had
happened – but since it didn't, we'll never know whether he failed to
show up in the Pinewood eps because he was not as pretty as Wanda or
he had found other work in the gap between production blocks.

Mind you, *all* of the actors/ actresses in UFO are really "jobbing"
actors – ie, get work whenever it suits them to earn a living, they
were *not* stars in the accepted sense of the term, not even Ed
(shame!)

One of the problems with UFO is the lack of consistent regular
characters (imho) and it would have been even worse in a second
series. It would have been the "Ed Straker" show :-D - perhaps
another reason why it was dropped.
