Gerry Anderson at the FAB Cafe

Here's an interesting e-mail I just received:

I have just returned from a very entertaining evening
spent at "An Audience with Gerry Anderson" held at the
FAB Cafe/Bar in Manchester. A very small venue holding
less than 200 people at a guess. Gerry ran through his
career including various video clips. Among many other
bits and pieces he announced for the 'first time in
public' (his phrase) that he had been approached by a
German banker interested in making an updated version
of UFO, now where have I read that before!

Also,he didn't seem to have a good word to say about
Michael Billington!!!!

What I want to know is:
a. whether this disease is contagious?
b. do you get it from Mike B?
c. has it spread to Moonbase yet? (we could evacuate there till the epidemic
passes)
d. does eating fettucine prevent infection?
e. does watching a UFO ep a day prevent infection?
f. how many times can you be EXPOSED before you get infected?
g. Is the infection spreading along a certain FLIGHT PATH?

As to Marc, glad to hear you're better!!!! - as to Yuchtar's words, I
assumed they were Klingonese :-)

The other day I went into a sauna - the company I work for has this deal
with a fitness club and we get a cheap deal, so i thought it was about time
i tried the thing out, I had never been to a sauna. Well, I can't say I
liked the experience (I like heat, but not that kind of heat, maybe it was
the smell of the Eucalyptus or whatever it is they use, still, I can't say
it was an ordeal either, just boring and smelly I guess) but I was thinking
of Paul some of the time and kept an eye on the door. Not an alien in
sight. Still, seeing one would only have been a dream.
What was a hoot was that some of the guys were naked. Hahaha. Noticed the
sign 'naked allowed' as I walked in but didn't want to chicken out.
Especially since a lady there assured me that there was no need for me to
get naked (then I would have bolted :-)
Anyway, I fail to see why Paul liked saunas. Had they just become
fashionable at the time? (The latter reflects on why Gerry included a scene
in a sauna, of course :-)

As to Gerry not liking Michael Billington too much, one wonders if he still
has latent feelings for Sylvia - maybe they could be forced somehow to do
this UFO2 together and there would be a great reunion and they would team
up again? I couldn't care less about their personal lives, really, but they
did do some good stuff together, it's a shame personal stuff has to
intervene in business... Straker wouldn't have understood, I'm sure....

Just a final point about the negative comments Gerry has alledgedly

downer on MB, but my own personal experince of dealing with Mike over

last few days is that he is a very courteous
and kind person indeed. He responed to all my emails in less than 12

I can't stand saunas. I can't breath - it's like breathing liquid. It
wasn't Paul's idea to go in that sauna, though - that was part of the
fitness program ...

Yeah. We have to breathe liquid when we're launched via lightcraft to
the SHADO deep space tracking facility. No picnic. Of course, our
fluid breathing technology has come a long way from the alien green
stuff... :^)
